Direct Support Professional (DSP)

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to live independently and thrive. DSPs provide compassionate, hands-on care in a variety of settings, ensuring individuals receive the support they need to achieve their goals and maintain their well-being.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting with daily living activities such as meal preparation, laundry, and household tasks.
- Providing personal care support including bathing, hygiene, and dressing.
- Administering medication and health monitoring as required.
- Offering transportation to medical appointments, work, and community events.
- Supporting individuals in social, recreational, and personal development activities.
- Promoting independence, dignity, and a meaningful quality of life.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license & clean driving record
- Proof of valid auto insurance
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Physical ability to assist with mobility (lifting, carrying, bending, transferring, stooping, walking, etc.)
- Pass state and federal background checks (BCI/FBI)
- Completion of required training upon hire & ongoing annual training (per Ohio law)

Become a Shared Living Provider/ Residential Respite with Steps 2 Better Living
Are you passionate about making a difference in someone’s life? Steps 2 Better Living, Inc. is looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals to become Shared Living Providers. By opening your home and providing personalized support, you can help individuals with developmental disabilities live in a safe, caring, and family-oriented environment.
What Does a Shared Living Provider Do?
As a Shared Living Provider, you will:
- Provide daily support to an individual in your home.
- Assist with household tasks, laundry, meal preparation, and personal care.
- Administer medications and health monitoring as needed.
- Offer transportation to medical appointments, work, and community events.
- Create an inclusive and supportive home environment where individuals can thrive.
- Provide respite care when temporary or emergency support is needed.
Requirements to Become a Shared Living Provider:
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Safe and reliable vehicle with a valid driver’s license & clean driving record
- Proof of valid auto insurance/ Have a residence with a spare room for the individual
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Physical ability to assist with mobility (lifting, carrying, bending, transferring, stooping, walking, etc.)
- Pass state and federal background checks (BCI/FBI)
- Completion of required training upon hire & annual training as mandated by Ohio law
